DragonSoul DragonSoul is a freetoplay MMORPG game that you can play on the PC. One thing PC users will be thankful for is that this game only takes 600MB for you to download it. The waiting time isnt as unbearable if you wanted to download the 25GB behemoth that is DC Universe Online. I had no technical problems downloading and installing the game like with some other games Ive played in the past, so you dont need to worry about the game not working on an older laptop or computer model. Another thing MMORPG veterans will know is that you will always have to create an original character to be before you can start playing the game. DragonSoul is no different as once you log in; you are immediately sent to the character creation screen. As always, there are nice options for you to customize the appearance of your chosen character. You can pick to be a male or female character changing their clothes and hairstyle to fit your personal preference. Apart from choosing the way your character looks, you are also required to choose the class you want to be as well. There are four classes that you can choose from that include the following: Warrior, Hunter, Mage and Assassin. Each class specializes in a different area of combat so choose the class that best suits your personal gameplay style. After you have done that, youre off to ancient China to explore the world of DragonSoul. Graphically, the game is not a visual beast like other freetoplay MMORPG games like DC Universe Online and Wizards 101, however they look great considering the game is only a 600MB download. Not to mention the game runs pretty smoothly even though I was playing the game on a 1GB ram laptop. Im sure the game will run even better if you were playing the game on a 2GB or 4GB computer. Nevertheless, the game environment is huge and the draw distance isnt as bad like if you were playing on an old PSOne game. One thing I would criticize about the visuals are that the environments lack any significant detail. They are not at pretty as in other free toplay MMORPG games Ive encountered. Especially since this game was released in 2011 and not in 2004. Gameplay wise, MMORPG fans should expect the same style of gameplay of talking to a lot of nonplayable characters and accepting to undertake quests for them. At the start of the game, you start off in a humble little village doing many mundane tasks for the inhabitants. Sometimes I question why these characters cant do these tasks themselves. I understand they cannot fight big enemies but Im very sure theyre able to walk a few meters to relay a message to their friends. Thankfully, combat is not turnbased or simulated so you can expect to have full control over your character during each battle. Enemies are situated on the game map itself and you are not transported to a separate screen like in some other RPG games. Personally, I prefer this style of gameplay mechanics more as its more action orientated. Not to mention is its a lot more fun to play. A main aspect in DragonSoul that differentiates itself from other MMORPG games is its heavy focus on adopting pets. This game isnt like Pokemon, but you do have the option to adopt a variety of pets that can aid you in battle. You start off small adopting little animals such as a rabbit, frog and a mantis. You can level them up as well to make them stronger. As you progress, bigger animals will be available to you such as a bear and a fox just to name a few. There are even animals that you can ride on so you dont have to traverse the large landscape on foot. Players can choose to ride on the traditional horse or even on a cute chubby panda. Much like the pets, other animals will become available to you the further you progress into the game. This is a very awesome feature that should be included in other games in my opinion. Another major aspect of DragonSoul is the PvP combat. Unlike other games where you battle oneonone, in DragonSoul you have the option to join a Kingdom and engage in large scale PvP battles. It feels like you are in a movie set fighting in a large battle like the many epic scenes from the Lord of the Rings movies. Its a unique feature of this game and lets hope more game developers incorporate this feature in the near future. DragonSoul is a highly enjoyable freetoplay MMORPG game that doesnt take too much time to download or load on your computer. Although some people might say that the graphics are outdated, the visuals are decent enough so people with older computers will have to trouble playing the game. The combat, PvP battles and many pets that are featured in this game are the best aspects of DragonSoul. If youre looking to play an excellent MMORPG game, than DragonSoul is a something you should look at.

Knights of the Sky Knights of the Sky is a MMORTS game that is browser based and totally free to play. This means gamers do not have to pay a cent to play the game nor do you have to download or install the game onto your computer. With that being said, is this still a video game worth your precious time playing? Knights of the Sky works the same way as pretty much every other browser based video games out there. There is no main protagonist that you have to be and you can get to choose the team and avatar you will like to play as. Even though this game appears to be set in the Middle Ages, it is great to see that there are a number of female characters in the game. Normally in these types of games you can only be older men. The character illustrations are pleasing to the eye and the graphics of the game are none too shabby either. One thing I did not like about Knights of the Sky is that there is absolutely no audio in this game. I understand that most free to play video games do not have a big budget on their hands, although some kind of background music wouldnt harm anyone. If you plan on playing the game for hours, it gets a bit boring playing it in silence all the time. Knights of the Sky may lack any audio but the gameplay is fun. The tutorial does a good job of telling new players everything they need to know to excel in this game. It is one of those games that make sure you are comfortable and wont leave you out in the cold like other games. I remember playing other free to play RTS games where it told me nothing and I wasnt sure what to do next. Another helpful tool in this game is that the objectives are clearly positioned on the middle of the screen. All you have to do is click on the name that is highlighted green and you are automatically transported to the place you need to go. One of the more unique aspects of Knights of the Sky is the combat system. You will fight enemies on a grid much like on a chessboard. Some of your troops can only move in certain places on the board while others can attack from enemies from a short or long distance only. It is in your best interest to try and position your troops to surround your enemy and attack them relentlessly from all sides. This is much easier said than done as the A.I. is very smart in this game and rarely allows you to ambush them so easily. The combat is pretty hard and I got beaten multiple times during the same mission. One unique feature you can do is switch from manual controls to auto controls. Auto controls allow you to let the computer decide how to defeat your enemies instead. This helped me quite a bit but it wont help you all the time. It is best to use a combination of manual and auto controls during battles in this game to get the best results in my opinion. I relied heavily on the auto controls at the start and still lost many of my battles! In terms of RTS games in general, city building is one feature that may turn off some players. After a string of exciting objectives for you to do, the game then teaches you the tedious task of city building. It is then that the pace slows down and you are required to build your city and make you army stronger. This may deter some gamers as you cannot challenge other players until you are strong enough to do so. But once you are strong enough, the game becomes more fun if you are patient enough to build your city and army. Knights of the Sky is one of the more unique RTS games I have ever encountered. The settings and graphics may not be anything new, but the combat system is exciting even though it is difficult at times. The chessboard style fights are unpredictably fun and much better to play than just simulated fights that are often the case with most other RTS games.

Mabinogi Mabinogi is a free-to-play MMORPG game made in South Korea. The game was originally released back in Korea In 2004. Its popularity grew in number ever since then as its user base increased into other countries in Asia in 2005. It wasn t until 2008 that Mabinogi made its way into North America before being released in Europe in 2010. Mabinogi proved popular enough that Nexon ,the games publishe wanted to release the game on the Xbox 360. Unfortunately, the game never was released even though production of the Xbox 360 version of Mabinogi was reportedly finished. The only way to play Mabinogi is via the PC. Not that this is too much of a bad thing considering the game is free-to-play on the PC. If it was released on the Xbox 360, gamers would have needed to play for the game and their Xbox Live subscriptions on top of this… In terms of creating characters in Mabinogi, you can only create one character at one time. This is unlike other MMORPG games where you have the option to create more than one character. If you want to create more, you will have to play money in order to do so. There are three races for you to create at the start of the game. You can choose to be a male or female and whether they are going to be human, elf or even a giant. Once you have created your onscreen avatar, you are then ready to enter the wonderful world of Mabinogi. The game starts off with a beautiful introductory cut scene. You get to see the bright and colorful graphics that Mabinogi has to offer. The entire game world is rendered in full 3D but the character models are illustrated in traditional Japanese anime-style 2D. If gamers have ever played Namco Bandais Eternal Sonata on the Xbox 360 and PS3, you will know the type of visuals that are on offer in Mabinogi. Despite the game having a lovely soundtrack, great sound effects and striking visuals, the only thing missing are voice actors. Most MMORPG games dont have any voice overs and this is to be expected, however its slightly disappointing considering another MMORPG game called Wizard 101 has a ton of quality voice acting work. Unlike in Wizard 101, combat is done in real-time. All you have to do is click on top of an enemy using the mouse and your character will instantly hack away. Combat is varied as enemies will only attack you depending on their behavior. Some of them are really aggressive and attack you the moment they see you while others will ignore you unless you provoke them first. This gave the game a sense of realism just like in the real-life animal kingdom – not all of them are going to attack humans. There are so many things that you can do in Mabinogi its almost mind-blowing. Although most gamers will follow the main quests, there are a number of side-quests and part-time jobs that you can participate in. You can do minor things such as fishing or even harvesting wool just to name a few. Much like in other MMOPRG games, you will have to play for services that offer you bonus content. Its not a necessity to pay for these items, but they can help you in the long run. Only pay for these items if you think you’re going to invest a lot of hours into Mabinogi. It will be a waste of money if you’re only a casual fan and is going to only play the game once a week. Mabinogi is a high-quality MMORPG game that offers hours of fun and will cost you absolutely nothing in order to play it. The games visuals are great and the amounts of quests that are available are simply mind blowing. Even if you’re not a fan of MMORPG games, it shouldnt hurt you to give Mabinogi a go.
