A small and isolated place, the islanders have lived a simple life for as long as anybody can remember. The story begins with Mia waking up in a hospital bed after being found asleep in the woods by the island doctor. She wakes amidst a growing crisis on Seahorse Island. The crops have stopped growing, and the trees and plant life are mysteriously dying despite an abundance of rain. Furthermore, Mia has no memory of who she is, or where she came from. Mia then embarks upon a quest to discover who she is, and what is happening to the island. Who is the mysterious Mr. Clancy who turns up at the hospital looking for her, and what does he want? During her adventures, Mia will explore isolated beaches, negotiate treacherous mountain passes, and descend into deep under water caverns, as well as visit the various towns and villages on the island. Despite her perilous journey, the toughest challenge Mia will face may prove to be the islanders themselves. As their self-sufficient and insular society finds itself powerless to deal with the unexpected, their darker emotions and prejudices begin to surface.

Combat Arms Combat Arms may very well be one of the most popular free-to-play internet games. This is because its a modern day based online FPS game that is similar to that of other popular games from the genre such as Counter Strike and Call of Duty. The FPS genre has exploded in recent times thanks to the success of Activisions Call of Duty series. The last two games from the series have managed to sell over 20 million copies each worldwide. With the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 later this year, it appears as if the FPS genre wont be going away anytime soon. If you’ve ever played a FPS game before, its pretty easy to get used to the controls and purpose of Combat Arms. One of the coolest aspects of the game is the ability for you to create your own character. The options to choose from are both ethnic and gender friendly so theres something for everyone to choose from in Combat Arms. Certain characters will have certain weapons that they specialize in. It pays to take notice of this as you dont want to pick a character that does not suit to your specific playing style. If youre more of a long ranged expert you can choose the woman with the sniper rifle. Alternatively, you can choose to be the big man who carries the heavy duty guns. In either case, if youve ever played a FPS game before, choose the right weapon that will suit your needs. Before you head off into the battlefield to take on other players, theres the option to go through the games tutorial mode. It is here you can familiarize yourself with Combat Arm’s controls. Many FPS veterans may not have to do the tutorial mode as the controls are easy to learn. Still, if youre a novice at the genre, getting some target practice will help you in a big way. Once all the introductions and tutorials are over, you can jump straight into a match. There are multiple servers to choose from and there are always people playing Combat Arms so you wont have to worry about not finding enough players to join in your game. The default play mode is your typical team deathmatch. It is here where your objective is to kill as many people on the opposing team as possible. A disadvantage for rookie Combat Arms players is that you’re mixed with veteran players who already have access to more powerful weapons. It can be a frustrating but Combat Arms make sure to even the teams up to make things fair. A good thing about this mode is that you can steal the enemies weapons once you (or a teammate) have killed them. This in turn allows you to wield a more powerful gun than the default one you are left with when you start playing the game from the beginning. However, if you die, you will respawn with the same weak weapon you had before. It pays to stay alive for as long as possible. The second playing mode I participated in was a special zombie mode. This will see one player starting the game off as a zombie and trying to infect all the other players. There are many rounds to this mode and the eventual winner is the person who was last to get infected. I loved playing this mode as it was more about survival than just mindlessly killing people all the time. Another great thing about Combat Arms is the rewards you can get for leveling up. You can choose to customize the appearance of your chosen character or add attachments to your guns. It is worthwhile playing the game for a few hours just to experience all the good stuff you will be able to unlock. The more time you invest in playing Combat Arms, the more fun it will become. One thing I disliked about Combat Arms is that the game takes a long time to load. Before I even started playing my first match I was seeing the loading screen for what seemed like a good 3 minutes or so. If youre not willing to wait that long, then I suggest you play another game as loading times can be a pain. Combat Arms is one of the most robust free to play games Ive played all year. The gameplay is similar to that of Call of Dutys multiplayer mode. There are a number of weapons to choose from and its popularity will guarantee you that there are always people there for to play with. Graphically, its horribly outdated although this should not stop you from playing Combat Arms. Combat Arms is certainly a blast to play and I’m certain may FPS fans wont argue with that statement.

This means there is no downloading involved and you can play the game almost instantaneously once you register your details. Registering to play the game is a breeze if you choose to use your Faecbook profile. Once youve done that, youre ready to explore what type of game Uprising Empires really is. First, you can get to choose the avatar picture you want to be represented as. There are four teams in this game that represent the following countries/empires: The Mongols, The Turks, Kingdom of Jerusalem and Byzatine Empire. Each empire is represented by either a male or female representative. You can choose to be a male or female character and then you are promoted to the games tutorial. The tutorial isnt mandatory as theres the nifty option of skipping it altogether. Its advisable that you go through the entire tutorial so you wont feel lost as theres no going back. Uprising Empires is your typical style of MMORTS game so anyone who has played this genre before will probably know what to expect out of this game. Uprising Empires probably doesnt offer anything unique to the genre to be honest with you. Its a straight up RTS game where collecting resources, constructing buildings and recruiting soldiers takes up the majority of the gameplay. Gamers who are more into city building games will like this game more than other people will. The reason I say that is because Uprising Empires offers no high action production values to keep you enthralled throughout your playing time. Theres no music to speak of playing in the background nor is there any sound effects included in this game either. Playing in silence gets very boring after a while and detracts you from being immersed into the game world. Another thing this game lacks is action. Sure you can recruit soldier to attack other faction and cities, but you dont actually get to see any of that. You cannot control you soldiers to attack like you can in other RTS games and you dont even get to see them walking around too. Its a very basic and rather boring feature of just clicking attack and then seeing a report card whether you have won or lost the battle. This is not a game I can recommend for gamers looking for high-octane action sequences thats for sure. Graphically, Uprising Empires is nothing special. It lacks the impressive visuals of a comparable RTS game like Reborn Empire. Not only that but the games objectives are what we should come to expect from a typical RTS game. You just end up doing a bunch of quests that to build up your own city to create a string army so you can challenge and conquer other players who may be playing this game. There are no unique features Uprising Empires offers that separate it from the plethora of other free to play MMORTS games out there. One good thing about Uprising Empires is that there is a healthy community of players who are currently playing this game right now. According the Facebook app for the game, there are over 20,000 active monthly players. Also, the game only came out fairly recently and depending on the games popularity, this number is expected to grow. There is also an active chat system included In Uprising Empires too so if youre stuck on the game for any reason, theres always someone out there who can help you out on any queries you might have. Uprising Empires was not the most enjoyable MMORTS games Ive ever played since the game did not offer anything special. The setting the overall gameplay has been done countless times before and RTS veterans wont find anything new to experience here. Still, its a free to play video game so if you are a fan of RTS games, give this game a try to see if it might appeal to you more.
