Heroes of the Banner is a free to play tower-defence game that you can play online. You can play the game on your browser directly as its flash-based. Most people shouldn’t have any trouble playing the game on their laptop or computer as the game loads pretty fast and is not very demanding to your hardware. Heroes of the Banner has a simple story and premise as some demons have started to invade the kingdom. It is up to you to try and stop them from reaching the kingdom and killing all of its citizens. The demons travel on a road, and you have to take them out by building defence towers in order to get rid of them.

Heroes of the Banner Gameplay

The gameplay in Heroes of the Banner is quite simple, yet very addictive at the same time. There will be waves of demons walking on the road, and you have to make sure none of them attack your kingdom. If even one demon gets through your defences, it’s game over. You have to make sure the towers you build are powerful enough to get rid of every last one of them. The first part of Heroes of the Banner is quite simple. The first tower you build is powerful enough to kill all of the enemies on its own. The towers are able to shoot automatically, so you don’t need to be constantly pressing buttons. However, there are certain skills specific towers can use to wipe out the enemies quickly and more efficiently. The towers have limited range and can only aim in close proximity to where it has been stationed. If an enemy manages to walk past the tower, he can escape your firepower and manage to rein terror in your kingdom. To prevent this from happening, you can summon a skill that enables you to aim at enemies and take out a larger number of them in the process.

The skills are pretty cool to use because they are powerful and can kill off a whole group of demons in one swoop. However, they have a cool down period, so you cannot spam them forever. They do come in handy when the tougher enemies start coming down the road. Some of the towers you build aren’t powerful enough to kill the big bosses in this game. This is when you need to use the skills to help even out the playing field.

Production

The production values in Heroes of the Banner are immaculate. The 2D graphics look excellent and the character designs are highly detailed. The demons look pretty badass and you can see more of the artwork during the mini-cut scenes. The good guys look cool as well. It’s also worth mentioning the overall layout of the game is nice and neat. The HUD doesn’t look too cluttered as the buttons are nice and big for you to see. Not to mention the overall game looks nice, bright and colourful too.

The audio in Heroes of the Banner is just as good as the graphics are. The music sounds decent, but the sound effects are even cooler. You will hear the groans of the demons when they die, but you can also listen to the sounds of your own attacks too. The explosions of bombs firing and arrows falling to the road add some great and immersive atmosphere to the game.

The only negative thing I can say about Heroes of the Banner is that the gameplay might get too repetitive for some gamers. Building many towers and needing to defeat waves upon waves of demons coming through might get tiresome after a while. If you like the tower-defence genre though, you can spend hours playing this game. It’s rather simple to learn and can get addictive once you get the hang of things. If you are a gamer that likes to do different quests, you are better off playing something else as the quests never really change in this game. Even though there are several different levels on offer, the objective pretty much stays the same in all of them.
