S.K.I.L.L: Special Force 2 Review

S.K.I.L.L: Special Force 2 is an online multiplayer FPS game that is free to play on your computer. The game is only available in some countries, so don’t be too alarmed if the game does not allow you to play. Unlike modern day First Person Shooter Games FPS games on Steam, PS4 and Xbox One, the system requirements for this game are not very high. You only need Windows Vista or higher to run this and the minimum amount of RAM required is 1GB. With many people now on Windows 10, it shouldn’t be too hard for you to try and get this game off the ground.

Due to the nature of the low system requirements, some people will notice that the graphics for S.K.I.L.L: Special Force 2 look a little outdated. This is because it uses Unreal Engine 3 to power its visuals. The graphics don’t look bad as it resembles the visuals of a Call of Duty game on PS3 or Xbox 360. That being said, you won’t see the shininess and detail that modern games have that are powered by Unreal Engine 4 or EA’s Frostbite game engine.

There are lot of teams and factions that are available in this game and you are free to choose which one you want to align yourself with. The factions include: Delta, Spetsnaz, SAS, GIGN, GAFE and UDT. All of them are based off of real Special Forces in real life so the developers of this game really did their research to make sure the soldiers you use are authentic. Speaking of realism, this game also includes a ton of real-life weapons. This includes real-life machine guns, shotguns, pistols, sniper rifles, grenades to even a crossbow. Some weapons you have to unlock the more you play the game. You can get more weapons by either using the in-game currency or using real money. A unique thing about this game is that weapons wear out over time and need to be repaired. You can just wait for them to be repaired though if you are feeling stingy.

In terms of game modes, there are several for you to choose from. The game modes are: Team Deathmatch, Single, Blasting, Seizure and Party. The first two are the usual modes you see in other FPS games. It’s just a match where you have to get the most kills. Blasting is a little different because you have to plant bombs at specific targets. If you are a defender, you have to make sure the bomb doesn’t go off. Seizure is your typical Capture the Flag mode while Party is a funny mode where you have to shoot glass underneath your opponents until they fall to their death.

There’s not much else to say about the gameplay in S.K.I.L.L: Special Force 2 in regards to its core gameplay. Much like other online fps games for pc free download video games, the control scheme is tied to both the keyboard and mouse and the main objective is to really just shoot at anything that moves. Aside from the Part and Blasting modes, the rest of the game feels all too familiar to FPS veterans. There’s nothing bad about the gameplay inS.K.I.L.L: Special Force 2, it’s just the fact that the online FPS genre is oversaturated at the moment. Not to mention the modern day shooter has been done so many times by the Battlefield and Call of Duty franchises. I didn’t get a sense that I was playing something new as this game doesn’t offer anything fresh to the genre. That being said, the gameplay in this game is fun if you have not played that many FPS games before. It’s a fast paced twitch type shooter like you will get from the Call of Duty franchise. Soldiers run at a fast pace and the level design is decent. However, you won’t see any vehicles in this game and most of the maps are either small or medium sized so don’t expect to see large scale battles like in the Battlefield series.

S.K.I.L.L: Special Force 2

Overall, S.K.I.L.L: Special Force 2 is a fun online FPS if you have not played Call of Duty before. The fact that it’s free to play and that the system requirements are low mean that the population player count is always high. You don’t have to wait for several minutes in order to play a match. However, FPS veterans may not see anything new offered here. This is not a bad thing, but it’s just everything feels too similar for my taste.
