Dragon Fable
Dragon Fable is a free fantasy RPG that you can play online in your web browser. No downloads are required to train your dragon or play this game! Dragon Fable is one of the most ambitious and best RPG games ever to grace the internet. Most free to play browser-based games simply don’t have the production values to rival games that are available on home consoles. Dragon Fable however, is one game that offers more value than even most full priced video games. This is mainly because exclusive members of the game can have access to items and new areas. The game is constantly updated so there’s always something new for you to explore in Dragon Fable. The only downside to this is that you have to pay for these services. To obtain a standard upgrade it will cost you $19.95 while an ultimate upgrade is $29.95. You can still have fun with Dragon Fable as there is a lot of quests and hours of gameplay here on offer even for non members. Setting up an account is free and there’s no downloading data so you can start playing the game almost immediately. The first thing you have to do is choose and create your character. Much like many other RPGs you have a choice on what type of class you would like to be as. You have the choice of being a strong warrior, a stealthy rogue or a crafty mage. Depending on what class you choose, you will have access to different attacks in the game. The great thing about Dragon Fable is that you can change the look of your character almost completely. Not only can you change the style of your hair but your skin color can be bright red or blue even. The range of options available is nothing like in much other RPG games I’ve played recently. Once you start going you will witness how pretty the game really is. Although it’s not output in HD, the 2D visuals are still beautiful. The quality of animation on this game is something you would see on a Saturday morning Disney cartoon. The only downside to the graphics is the background. They are bland and not as detailed as most of the character models. As you start the game you will see a priestess with a mysterious black box. After you save her from the enemy she disappears into the forest. It’s not until you reach level 30 that you realize she has a dragon inside the black box that you can use as a companion on your long adventure. Before you can do all that, there’s the usual long road of leveling up and defeating a lot of baddies. Combat in this game is hardly complicating and is one of the more accessible systems I’ve played in a long time. It’s a traditional turn-based system but there are no complicated menus that you have to wade through to use your items and skills. This is because skills are learnt each time you reach a new level while items are easy to use each time you are in battle. There are still shops in this so you can upgrade your equipment, but I thought thus system was helpful for new players to the RPG genre. Another great thing about combat in this game is that your health and magic points gradually replenish after each battle. There’s never the fear that you’ve used too much skills or potions like it is in most other RPG games. I found it quite satisfying as there’s nothing worse than facing a boss with low health and with no potions left! As aforementioned, Dragon Fable offers hours of fun whether you’re a paying member of the game or not. Sometimes I forgot I was playing this game for free as the quality of this game is simply that amazing. The only thing that may disappoint some people is the lack of any music. Nevertheless, Dragon Fable is still a great game that all RPG gaming fans should check out.

Eudemons
Eudemons Eudemons Online is an interesting two dimensional Fantasy MMORPG game with a very fast rate of leveling and gameplay. The games most interesting component is the games pet system. Players can hatch, raise and train their own Eudemons to aid them in battle. Players can have up to two Eudemons at once with them and with over 30 unique Eudemons in the game, the possibilities are vast. The games three playable classes are: Warrior Warriors have the strongest melee damage in the game along with superior defensive capabilities, but they lack ranged skills. Magician Magicians are capable of dealing massive amounts of damage using their area of effect skills. They have perhaps the highest damage in the game, but have relatively low hit points and defensive capabilities compared to the two other classes. Paladin Paladins are a hybrid of the warrior and magician class. They have both a powerful melee attack and strong magic capabilities.

Jade Dynasty
Jade Dynasty Jade Dynasty is fantasy MMORPG game with a martial arts main theme. With oriental setting, much of the games geography environments and monsters are borrowed from Chinese mythology, players will start the game as initiates and must wait until level 15 to chose between five factions. All five factions have a different set of skills and a unique play style. The five factions in Jade Dynasty are: Jadeon : The premier ranged damage dealer in Jade Dynasty. Jadeons have powerful AoE, area of effect spells that make them effective levelers. High cast times and low defense make them vulnerable at close range. Skysong : The only class that is capable of healing and buff other players. Skysongs have low defense and limited offensive capabilities early on but make powerful allies in late game PvE and PvP. Vim : The primary tank class. Vims have high defense and deal powerful blows to single targets. They lack ranged attacks and become less effective during the later levels. Lupin : The rogue faction of Jade Dynasty. Lupins deal heavy melee damage but suffer from low defense. Their high critical rate makes them dangerous assassins but they are less useful in group fights. Ideal class for beginners. Modo : Modos are the main offensive spell casters. Their physical appearance and spell arsenal which includes curses, DoTs, and nukes mark them as formidable Warlocks. The Modo faction is the most difficult to play, especially since they are rather weak during the early levels. Balo : The faction of brute strength. The Balo prefer axes and many of their skills focus on their physical power. They make excellent front line warriors and can stun, paralyze, silence, and weaken their enemies. Arden : Elegant being that combine the best aspects of mankind and the animal kingdom. The Arden is masters of the bow and their affinity with nature allows them to summon beasts and plants for assistance.

Rappelz Rapplez is a MMORPG game in the vein of others much like the very popular World of Warcraft. But unlike Blizzards mega popular title, Rapplez is a free to playplay title that anybody can enjoy. Quite frankly, the best feature about Rapplez is that there is no monthly fee to pay and you can still get to play the game. Not only that, but you will be able download all the patches that are available to further improve your free to play experience with Rappelz. As with every other MMORPG, the first thing you must do is create you on-screen avatar. There are three different races for you to choose from with 15 different classes on offer. This includes classes that specialize in magic, swords, axes and more. If youve ever watched the Lord of the Rings movies, you may have an idea of the type of characters you could create in Rappelz. Thankfully, you can choose to be both a female or male lead character. It's always good to know game developers are being more gender friendly these days. Once you have created your character youre all good to go and are immediately thrust into the lush fantasy world of Rappelz. Graphically, the color palette used in Rappelz is more vibrant than washed out look that is in Shaiya ,another free to play MMORPG. However, the controls arent as comfortable as in Shaiya because character movements are all controlled by the mouse only. It would have been nice to control your character using the keyboard as clicking on the mouse can get repetitive especially when its used to control every move and action that the character will be doing in the entire game. The first thing you will be doing in Rapplez is meeting up with your tutor who will guide you through the very basics of the game. Your very first task is to familiarize yourself with the games combat system. Combat is similar to other MMORPG games in that enemies are loaded on the game screen already and all you have to do is hack away by left clicking the mouse button. As you progress, theres a chance you can actually use the keyboard to initiate any new skills and magic you may have learnt. I thought this was a great feature and that a combat system like this should be implemented on all RPG games. The turn based system seen in other games seems out of date now in my opinion. Doing quests and jobs for NPCs ,non playable characters is the main thing you will be doing in Rappelz. One thing I disliked about the map in Rappelz is that its really small. Its also not very clear on where you have to go next too. It would have been more helpful if the map clearly marked where you had to go next and not just highlight a tiny blue dot among other tiny colored dots on the map. Quests themselves are pretty straightforward and normally require killing a lot of enemies. As aforementioned, the combat system is quite fun so leveling up in this game wont feel like a huge chore.

Silkroad Online
Silkroad Online Silkroad Online is a MMORPG that is free to play online. The game is set in the 7th Century during the time Europe and Asia traded goods with one another. Silk was traded because it was so lucrative at the time but other goods were traded between the two regions as well. Its great to see that Silkroad Online is based on a time period like this which shows the advancements of human civilization. Unlike most games where they are based on time periods when humans are at their worst such as the Middle Ages and World War II etc. As with every other MMORPG games before it, you are required to create your own character first before you can get to do anything else. You can be from Europe or Asia but you do not choose a specific class to be like in many other games. Instead, you just choose the type of weapons and armour you wish to use. The create options are varied and humorous to say the least. Unlike in the FPS game Operation 7, the customization options in Silkroad Online are varied. You can choose to be both a male and female main character and they can be from many different races. There are humans, elves and even a werewolf! Not to mention you can even choose a guy with glasses and make him fat. I applaud this type of variety as most games these days you only get to be generic looking male characters. After you have done that, you are ready to explore the world of Silkroad Online. Graphically, the game is very impressive and showcases a very large landscape. You start off in the city and even thats large on itself. Once you start off your quest, you can venture outside of town and then you can truly appreciate the huge environment that has been animated in this game. It is truly breathtaking how large this game really is. Although some people may think the visuals may look a little outdated by todays standards. Still, the visuals hold up well and considering this game was originally released in 2005 but then rereleased in 2009 to international gamers. Be warned though, the tutorial starts when you see the quest giver who has an icon above his head. If you miss this person, its going to be a hard task for you to understand what you are doing and where you are going. This thing happened to me that I had to restart the game and look at a Youtube video to know where he was! As always, most quests involve you venturing out of town to kill a bunch of monsters. In order to level up in this game, you pretty much have to do this type of thing over and over again. This is to be expected considering most MMORPG games play like this anyway. The only one that didnt use this type of system that I played was the excellent and innovative Wizards 101. Thankfully, combat in this game isnt too bad and its fast paced compared to other MMORPG games. Although combat is the usual point and click system that is seen in numerous times from games of the same genre. I actually preferred the more dynamic system that is used in more recent MMORPG games such as DC Universe Online. Still, MMORPG veterans will feel right at home with this type of combat system. There is PvP combat in Silkroad Online which is a lot more fun to do than fighting all the monsters all the time during the quests. Theres even a berserk bar in this game where you can become a powerful demonlike character for a brief period of time. This increases your attributes and makes you attacks much more devastating against your opponents. Silkroad Online does not break bring any new things to the MMORPG genre although it keeps a lot of things which makes the genre very popular in the first place. The graphics are impressive despite the games age and its great to see that Silkroad Online is set in a time period not ruined by human greed and war as seen in most other games.
