Eredan Game Review

Eredan is a free-to-play turn-based trading card game that you can play online. If you are familiar with other trading card games such as the likes of Yu-Gi-Oh! and even Magic the Gathering, you will know how Eredan is played like. But unlike with those two aforementioned trading card games, you don’t need to purchase expensive cards to play with as the game gives you a generous amount of cards for you from the very start. Eredan surely is a “free-to-play” video game. The only thing players will need is a computer and a good internet connection.

Eredan is not a MMORPG game so you don’t have to start the game by creating a main character to play as. Eredan starts off with a tutorial to give players an opportunity to learn the basics of playing this trading card game. It plays a bit like a turn-based RPG game without all the travelling, cutscenes and nice scenery.

The tutor of this game is nice and clear and explains the basics to you very clearly unlike in other games. The first opponents you face are a pair of angry black wolves. Three of your cards represent the trio of heroes that fight on your side. These cards still have “life bars” and if the other opponent manages to defeat all three of your heroes, it’s game over.

Unlike in some other games where characters only have a small selection of attacks, this trading card game allows you to use a plethora of techniques to destroy your enemies. You can use standard attacks or even special abilities that take away the strength and defence of your opponents. Bear in mind, you have to use a bit of strategy to defeat your enemies. You cannot expect to win by only choosing the same cards all the time and using the same techniques...

Once you defeat the angry wolves, Eredan gets harder as you will no longer face off against the A.I. The developer of Eredan believes only one tutorial is enough for you to tackle on real players. I was a little intimidated by this because I never really played any trading card games in my life and thought I would get beat easily. Thankfully, the game pits you up against other players of a similar level to you and the fun really begins when you play with real gamers around the world.

Unlike the A.I., real players aren’t so predictable and they have the same goal as you do – that is killing off your three cards. Killing off the computer controlled wolves was relatively easy compared to the first three matches I played against other people online. Although I managed to win all my matches, it felt like each of them lasted a good 15 minutes long. If you’re not prepared to participate in long card battles in Eredan, than this game is certainly not suitable for you.  

One of the best features of Eredan is the illustrations on the actual cards themselves. Fans of Japanese anime cartoons will absolutely fall in love with the artwork that is used throughout the entire game. Not to mention this game has dramatic music playing in the background while you play and even sound effects of cards shuffling. Eredan is a game I would expect to have no sound effects so it was a nice surprise to hear some top quality audio in this game.  

Normally when it comes to free-to-play video games, you have to register to play on the actual game’s website. Although you can still do this in Eredan, you can make the process go faster by simply registering using your active Facebook account. This system has already done wonders for Eredan since over 283,000 players already like the game on Facebook. This means Eredan has an active community so you won’t have trouble finding gamers to play against.

Eredan is an enjoyable game and this is coming from a guy that normally doesn’t play trading card games. The rules are easy to follow and the gameplay can be intensely pleasing. Eredan is also arguably the most affordable trading card game out there because you don’t have to spend a lot of money on all the cards.
