WolfTeam Game Review

When it comes to free-to-play video games, most of the genres that are covered are RTS and MMORPG games. Although first-person shooter games are common on the PS3 and Xbox 360, you rarely see FPS free-to-play games online.

Aside from WolfTeam, the only other free-to-play FPS game I’ve played has been Combat Arms.

First person shooter games are very popular especially now with the record breaking sales that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 achieved. Although there is a plethora of other FPS games out now on the market both on consoles and PC’s and these games are arguably better to play than Modern Warfare 3.

One of the biggest factors that players love about the EA’S Battlefield series is the fact that you can control many military vehicles such as fighter jets and even tanks. The Halo series is also popular thanks to its futuristic science fiction setting. What does WolfTeam offer that no other first person shooter has done before?

WolfTeam isn’t just a fancy code name or anything like that. You can actually turn into wolves to slash your opponents in this game. Never have I encountered a FPS game like this before where you are rewarded by turning into a fearsome wolf! Modern Warfare 3 rewards its players with high kill streaks with machine gun turrets, air strikes and many more. All of that isn’t as enjoyable as slaying your opponents as a huge wolf.

In terms of gameplay, WolfTeam is surprisingly responsive and highly enjoyable. For a free-to-Play FPS game, the controls are easy to master. I’ve been playing FPS games on PS3 and Xbox 360 games lately, but they pale in comparison to the precise accuracy of using a mouse and keyboard. The only thing that rivals this is if you play a FPS game using the PS3’s PlayStation Move controller.

As to be expected, there’s no single player aspect in WolfTeam. Once you get past the basic tutorial level that teaches you how to shoot and change your weapons, you are already thrust onto the battlefield to play against the many gamers around the world in WolfTeam. Multiplayer death matches that are the predominant game mode chosen by players and up to 16 gamers can be on the same map simultaneously. A lot of players have registered to play WolfTeam so you shouldn’t worry about no finding any people to play with.

Gamers need not worry about playing on the same map all the time as there are 15 maps overall. All the maps vary in design and size which keeps matches interesting and highly unpredictable. Some of them feature more open areas while others may be more enclosed. This forces players to think of the type of weapons they choose the areas they want to exploit.

Speaking of exploitation, one major flaw in WolfTeam is the location that you and your team get respawned. Whereas in other FPS games you get respawned randomly in different areas on the map, in WolfTeam you and your team get respawned all in the same area together. The opposition can easily hide and take you out every time you get revived which can result in a very unpleasant experience. Although you are invulnerable for 3 seconds after you get revived, this doesn’t stop some player stalking you from behind for a few seconds before taking you out…

WolfTeam offers multiple modern day guns as part of your arsenal. Although they are not modeled accurately upon real life weapons, I’m sure many gamers won’t notice the difference since they all look similar anyway. There’s the usual list of machine guns, shotguns and sniper rifles at your disposal. You can also kill people using knives pistols and even grenades too.

As aforementioned, WolfTeam is better played when you are being a menacing wolf. It’s cool because you can change into a wolf any time simply by just pressing the “3” button. Wolves have better jumping ability and can slash people with ease. But being a wolf doesn’t mean you are completely invincible so a strategy that involves both being a wolf and a normal person.

WolfTeam is a highly enjoyable FPS game that adds unique features to the genre that is unseen in most other games. The best part about WolfTeam is that it’s completely free for you play. Loading times can be long but don’t let that stop you from experiencing this amazing game. If you get bored of playing Modern Warfare and/or Battlefield 3, give WolfTeam a try.
