Crystal Saga Origins Review

One more Free to Play Manga Style MMORPG is within your grasp. We are talking about Crystal Saga. Created in a time when manga style MMORPGs are way too many to count, this game, along with its concept of rich gameplay will provide countless of hours of gaming. As in most MMO games, you get to find various items, equipment, dwell into dungeons, world bosses and of course main storyline quest to guide you through the rich world provided. The game itself doesn’t have some originality in the characters, for the classes are seen on almost every RPG you encounter.

The five classes implemented may seem little boring, but when you progress throughout the game, you’ll find that the skill trees are fun. Thus every class can have 3 ways of playing, either you stick to one of the two given skill trees, or you can make a hybrid to your own choosing. It’s all up to you.

As for the storyline… Well… As soon as you begin playing this game, you find yourself in what remains of the aftermath of breaking the Crystal of Life. Shortly, the Elves were guardians of the Crystal. The humans appeared long after the Elves and after becoming a dominant race, they sought the Crystal and its powers. Let’s say… a neverending struggle between these two races. A new threat emerged, The Undead. The Elves and Humans united to stop this threat. Utterly the Undead are stronger and everything results with breaking the Crystal of Life. Now the Undead are dominating and your job will be to eliminate them. Hopefully you and your friends are up to it!

The character creation. Basically, the characters are created for you. You get to choose between Knight (DPS or Tank), Rogue (Combat or Shadow), Mage (Fire or Ice), Priest (Blood or Holy) and Ranger (Anti-mage or Nature).  At first you won’t be able to choose the cub-class, but as soon as skill points are available, do check all the skills the character has, and apply the skill points to your choosing, thus determining the sub-class. It is essential to be careful with the skill points, for if not, it may take a while for you to gain Sands of Time item in order to reset your skills. Ingame, the only tank is Knight and only healer is the Priest, while the rest are focused either on pure DPS or support DPS. Your level sofar is capped to 80, so you will have about 40 skill points to spend in your skill tree. Take your time and don’t rush.

The combat system is quite simple. Just set the skill you use on the hotbar and there you go. Not very much of thinking is required, but still the HP and MP must be looked out for. The most interesting part in the combat system is the AFK Protection mode. You have a tab on which you set the parameters for potion usage, usable skills and loot. This way, your character will fight enemies around the screen, using pots by itself and looting of course. This mode is mostly used when grinding or when a lot of enemies need to be killed for a quest. Now you raised lvl 25 and you are ready to go in your first dungeon. The party can contain max of five players, which is preferred for dungeons. It is a well known system for experienced players. Also not to forget the pets. In your main questline you will be show how to tame a pet. The pet you choose will be your companion and depending on its abilities will provide certain damage or healing in your adventures. With high droprates for items, this game doesn’t need some crafting, but, the boss loots are not to be wasted. Gather many of them and you can trade them in special vendor for exquisite equipment. At that point you can relax, as you don’t need special skills obtained in order to have the greatest armor or weapon. Plus you might want to check the Wings and Mount system, with upgradable options of course.

One of the most important part of the game is the main questline. It is quite easy to navigate through quests, questgivers and getting to the place you need the quest done. The link system will give you just that. For example you are in the starting zones. Your quest is to get to the King. What you do? Just press the link that is shown and your character will go straight to that NPC. Quite easy, don’t you think? The main questline will provide with everything you need to know about every system and every tab implemented in the game. So don’t worry, even if you have never played this kind of games. The optional quests and event quests can be found either the events tab on your minimap or the quest tab on your lower right. These quests vary on what you would like to do – PvP or PvE. The PvP combat may not be something special sort to say, at moments confusing when you battle against other teams, mostly to the same character skins.

The graphics are decent, may seem cartoonish, but that is nothing new in the manga style games. Not many effects are given in the environment, though colorful and vast. The spells are quite unique to every character and you might even find impressing the visual output in this area. Within the many zones of the world you are set into, of course, you will find great and different environments, and your enemies will greet you differently in every single one of the zones.

Hey, I can create a guild!!! Of course you can create or maybe join a guild, thus the social element of the game is covered in details. At the chat bar you can see the world, whisper, party, guild and general chats. Besides, help your guild by contributing with daily quests or events. Gain guild skills and of course have fun. Don’t forget – Make friends.

Very rich game said in few words. Don’t forget to check the virtual shop, and the great number of events held. Be prepared to have some quality and fun time in the land of Vidalia!
