Battle of the Immortals Game Review

Battle of the Immortals is a free-to-play MMORPG game that was released back in 2010. Much like many other free-to-play video games, registration is simple and all you need to do is submit your email address and you’re free to download the game. Gamers who have weaker computers need not to worry about being unable to play Battle of the Immortals because the minimum specifications for the game aren’t that heavy. Also, the download size is only 1GB large so you don’t have to wait that long to play the game either.

Once the game is downloaded and ready you’re immediately prompted to choose your main character that you want to control. There are a total of five classes for you to choose from and all of them have their own strengths and weaknesses. First there’s the Berzerker. This class is really good at physical combat and wields dual swords. Next there’s the Champion class who holds a large sword and shield. This class has a large amount of health and is really strong. Slayer is a class for gamers who like to be quick and agile while the Magus and Heretic classes specialize in magic attacks and support.

Once you’ve chosen a class you have the option to choose a female or male character. Although you cannot alter the skin color of your character you can change the look of their face and their hair style. Once you’ve finally chosen who you want to be, you are immediately thrust into the world of Battle of the Immortals. The logo and presentation for the game reminds me a lot of World of Warcraft but the actual game itself looks totally different from Blizzard’s mega popular game. This is because Battle of the Immortals is played via an isometric point of view. Gamers who have played the likes of Diablo will be familiar with the camera-style seen in Battle of the Immortals.

The game’s camera may be its ultimate downfall for some gamers not familiar with this point of view. It’s disappointing to note the countless minutes I made trying to make my main character look cool was a waste of time because the character models in Battle of the Immortals look absolutely puny. The environments in the game look beautiful however. Gamers who have played other free-to-play MMORPG games such as Wizards 101 may be disappointed by the game’s tiny perspective however… Once you have gotten over the miniscule character models in the game, the game starts off immediately and can get addictive the moment you start playing. Quests come fast and swift from many non-playable characters that populate the world in Battle of the Immortals.

One of the most helpful things in this game that I have not seen in other MMORPG games is the fact you can click on a person’s name and your character will automatically walk over to them. For example, if a certain character tells you that you must speak with another character, all you have to do is open up the quest window and click on their name and you will automatically walk over to them. This means you don’t have to constantly open your map to find where you have to go all the time. It’s a helpful tool that should be implemented in more MMORPG games in my opinion. Another helpful feature in the game is that your health and magic replenishes after each time you rest after you initiate in combat. Speaking of combat, it’s very enjoyable and easy to do. All you have to do is highlight the enemy using your mouse and your character will hack away. Not only can you use your mouse but you can assign hot keys to use other skills that can kill enemies with ease. The more you progress into the game, the more skills you can unlock making things much more fun.

One of my favorite aspects of Battle of the Immortals is that you can capture and train pets to help you during combat. Although combat in this game is enjoyable on your own, having a pet around you makes things much more exciting. Much like other MMORPG games, you can fight other players if you want to. There are a healthy number of people still playing the game so you shouldn’t find it too hard to find anybody to fight with. Bear in mind, you must first reach level 31 in order to fight against other players in this game.

Battle of the Immortals may not be the best looking free-to-play MMORPG game out there, but it has a lot of cool features that make the game easy and accessible for gamers of all abilities. Let’s not forget to mention that the game costs nothing to play so anybody with an internet connection and a decent computer will be able to play it.
