League of Angels III Review

League of Angels III is a free to play MMORPG that you can play on your computer or laptop device. It’s browser-based which means you can play the game directly using any web browser so there’s no downloading required. Just play on the web browser, turn on Flash and you should be good to go. Anyway, I have not played the previous League of Angels so I’m not sure what is new and old in this third iteration of the game. However, I did play League of Angels III for several hours and I must say the game is enjoyable if you love autopilot RPGs. Another thing you can call them are idle RPGs since you can essentially press only one button and the game does everything for you.

Before you start League of Angels III though, the fantasy game has an opening cutscene that you can watch that pretty much shows you what the game is about. The story is not unique, but you just have to make sure the world is safe from the invading dragons and other enemies that want to make life a living hell. Surprisingly, the game did not give you the option to choose the class type you want to play as at the start of the game. After the cutscene finished, I was already playing as a pretty looking blonde woman. It’s a bit of a shame you cannot choose who you want to be, but that’s just a minor gripe.

What stood out for me the most about League of Legends III is the fact that the fully 3D graphics mostly runs really well and the loading times weren’t that very long either. Usually most RPGs of this kind utilize 2D graphics, so it was a bit of a big surprise to see this browser game being in full 3D. The 3D graphics look impressive because the character models look sexy and robust. It’s not just the character models that look great as the environment also has a lot of detail too. The only technical hiccups I had were some framerate drops, although those happened too few and far between to be a common nuisance. The loading times are surprisingly fast too which is mind boggling with a 3D browser based game.

The gameplay is not as impressive as the graphics though. As aforementioned, this game is an idle RPG meaning you can auto-quest the entire game so everything is done for you automatically. This style of gameplay is great if you’re feeling lazy, but it can get boring if you’re playing it for several hours. However, things get a little better during combat because it becomes has a turn-based fighting system. You have some type of choices to make during the turn-based combat, but overall most of the game is done automatically for you. Overall, League of Legends III does not add anything new to the rpg games free online genre, but the 3D graphics and turn-based combat system are two of the best I’ve ever seen for a browser-based video game. It’s worth playing for the visuals alone, as the graphics outshine the monotone style of gameplay.
