Kingdoms of Camelot
Kingdoms of Camelot Kingdoms of Camelot is a
browser-based game, from Kabam, that gives you the opportunity to build cities
on your way to claiming your rightful place on the throne. If, like me, you
were a big fan of Lords of the Realm then this may be the game for you.
The game takes advantage of Facebook by urging and
convincing you to invite friends to play on every screen you click on. Inviting
more friends to play can be the solution to your lack of supplies and gold. You
can also form alliances and ask friends to send troops to your aid if you need
it.
The game is very slow going and requires a lot of
patience, and a part of that is due to its RTS aspects. There will be times
when you are simply sat twiddling your thumbs as you count down the minutes
until that building you need is completed.
From the beginning you are given quests that,
although they can often feel a little too drawn out, will help you build your
cities. They act as very good tutorial whilst still allowing you to progress
your kingdom, by the time youre a few quests in you will know everything you
need to know and have the knowledge you require. Again though, these quests,
particularly if you simply want to build your city how you want, will feel
boring. A thing to note as well, is that if you dont actually complete the
quests then you will be stuck at level one forever and be unable to progress in
the game no matter how large and impressive that first city looks.
You will have to train troops so that youre able
to attack or defend when the time comes, its better to do this early on as
training just a few dozen troops can take up to an hour. You will also have to
recruit knights and assign them roles in your kingdom so that they can be of
greater benefit than just in battle.
There isnt much to do other than build a kingdom
and compare it with your friends. There are no large battles or change in play.
You can unlock more cities for you to be able to build, including a winter one,
but even these are built up the same way and the gameplay remains the same.
Kingdoms of Camelot is not a game for those that
have a busy day, instead it appeals to the casual gamer that is wanting time to
kill. Its a game that will appeal greatly to those that simply enjoy building
and looking after a city. The good thing, or bad thing depending how you view
it, is that because of how long some parts of it take, you will often only need
to sign in and take care of duties on the game for a few minutes a day.
